NEWS+UPDATES
I Like To Watch Too and Paradiso would like to thank all the dancers, the public, our subsidisers and Julidans for a great edition of ILTWT. We hope to see you next year! Please leave your comment, your personal peak or your suggestions for the 2011- edition on our facebook-page! We raffle 5x2 tickets for ISH - A Way of Life, july 10 in Paradiso among the reactions we get!
Paradiso, best known as the ‘pop temple’ for music, becomes the backdrop for state of the art (inter)national dance performances. In every corner of the building you encounter innovative, raw, fragile and direct acts all referring in their own way to dance and the human body, its limitations and its communicative ability. ILTWT gives you a chance to watch, see and experience the work of more than twelve artists in one compact, fully packed program - an explosion of performances, installations, music and film.
This years theme is Inside & Outside. ILTWT gathers innovative artists who are exploring new forms to relate to their audience. They take the body itself as the source, with all its fragility, virtuosity and imperfections, to express their questions and obsessions. In search for the core as well as the limitations of communication through the body, they extend the boundaries of dance to merge with visual arts, body art, music and other disciplines. Their language is raw, fragile and direct. This is performance dance as poetry; revealing what is inside in a compact and direct statement to the outside world– a personal reflexion of our time.
To name one example: in his performance-installation Bleu Remix, Yann Marussich lets blue liquid ooze mysteriously through the layers of his skin, the same way blood would, making the liquid seem a by-product of his body's inner processes. He opens the gateway between the ‘inside and the outside’ world – uncovering a secret passage from the unconscious, straight to the conscious.
The unconventional set-up without rows of seats, with doors open to move around as you like and dancers brushing right past you, makes it possible to experience dance in all its vigour.
Throughout the evening ‘hosts’ lead you through this adventure and unexpected ‘pop-up’ acts surprise you when and where you least expect it.
At night ILTWT transforms into I Like To Dance Too, giving you the chance to dance yourself, to be surprised by exciting night-acts and play with Matthias Oostrik’s interactive installation PlPlPl.Pl while moving to the beats of two special ILTDT editions of Paradiso club nights: BOSS (hip hop/ funk) on Friday and Zonde! (electro pop and italo disco) on Saturday.
